September 15-17, 2026 | Lombard, Illinois | Tabletop #57
FireXNull participated in the Coatings Trends & Technologies (CTT) Summit 2026 at The Westin Chicago Lombard, introducing coatings and materials professionals to FXN-M200 microcapsule technology and its potential for localized, passive fire suppression.
At Tabletop #57, the FireXNull team connected with formulators, chemists, manufacturers, R&D professionals, material scientists, and industry partners interested in advanced functionality for coatings and engineered materials.
What Is FXN-M200?
FXN-M200 is a dry microencapsulated fire suppression additive developed for evaluation and integration into compatible material systems.
Rather than treating fire suppression solely as a separate piece of equipment, microencapsulation creates opportunities to investigate whether heat-responsive suppression functionality can be incorporated closer to the materials, components, or environments being protected.
For coatings and materials developers, this opens an important technical question: can fire suppression become a functional property of the material system itself?
FireXNull is working with manufacturers and R&D teams to explore that possibility.
Exploring Fire Suppression as a Functional Property
Modern coatings already do much more than provide color or surface appearance. Engineered coatings can provide corrosion resistance, electrical insulation, chemical resistance, thermal management, conductivity, antimicrobial properties, weather protection, and numerous other functions.
FireXNull is exploring another functional capability: localized, heat-activated fire suppression.
FXN-M200 is intended for evaluation by qualified manufacturers and formulators in applications involving materials such as:
- Coatings
- Polymers
- Resins
- Adhesives
- Composites
- Encapsulants
- Engineered components
Actual formulation, compatibility, performance, loading level, processing conditions, and validation are determined by the manufacturer for the specific host material and application.
Why Microencapsulation?
Microencapsulation keeps an active material contained until defined conditions trigger its release.
For fire suppression, this approach creates the potential to position suppression functionality very close to areas where elevated temperatures or a fire event may develop.
That makes microcapsule technology particularly interesting for applications where conventional suppression systems may be difficult to install because of space, geometry, weight, complexity, or other engineering constraints.
Conversations With the Coatings Industry
CTT Summit brought together professionals working across industrial coatings, formulation science, raw materials, polymers, adhesives, surface chemistry, manufacturing, and R&D.
For FireXNull, these conversations were an opportunity to discuss how FXN-M200 might be evaluated within different material platforms and how laboratory testing can help determine technical feasibility.
Instead of offering a universal formulation, FireXNull's material-integration strategy centers on collaboration. Manufacturers understand their host materials, manufacturing processes, performance requirements, and regulatory environment. FireXNull brings specialized knowledge of its microencapsulated suppression technology. The objective is to bring those disciplines together through structured evaluation and testing.
Moving Fire Protection Closer to the Source
Many conventional fire protection strategies operate at the room, equipment, or enclosure level.
Material integration has the potential to move the protection boundary even closer, to a coating, polymer system, component, or specific high-risk area.
That concept aligns closely with FireXNull's broader approach to fire safety: respond to a thermal event through the material itself and release suppression agent locally, without a separate detection or activation system.
FireXNull technologies are designed as supplemental, localized protection and do not replace code-required fire protection systems.
