FXN Rope, sometimes called a fire rope or fire extinguisher rope, is a passive, heat-activated, microcapsule-based fire suppression rope designed to provide supplemental localized protection inside compatible electrical and electronic enclosures. Its microcapsules contain electrically non-conductive FK-5-1-12 clean agent. The product activates without sensors, batteries, external power, or control wiring.
Evaluate FXN Rope for industrial control cabinets, electrical distribution enclosures, compatible data center equipment, OEM machine control compartments, and similar enclosed applications. It adds a layer of localized suppression but does not prevent electrical faults or replace required fire and electrical safety systems.

What Is a Fire Rope?
A fire rope, also called a fire extinguisher rope or fire suppression rope, is a flexible cord that carries a fire suppression agent and releases it automatically when it gets hot. FXN Rope uses microencapsulated FK-5-1-12 clean agent and activates at 428°F ± 9°F (220°C ± 5°C) at the rope, so it can follow wiring and component runs inside compatible enclosures where a single compact device would not reach. Actual suppression time depends on flame size and enclosure volume.
Why Choose Passive FXN Rope?
-
Automatically heat activated: responsive microcapsules are designed to release FK-5-1-12 at their activation temperature.
-
No external electrical connections: operates without power, sensing electronics or manual triggering.
-
Flexible format: suitable for planned positioning around different potential ignition areas inside compatible enclosures, while maintaining clearances.
-
Residue-Free Clean Agent: FK-5-1-12 itself leaves no residue; minor rope material residue may remain after activation.
-
Class A, B, and C fire hazards: designed for supplemental, localized suppression in compatible applications; FK-5-1-12 is a clean agent recognized in NFPA 2001.
-
No routine servicing required: operates automatically without external power, wiring, refilling, or recharging. Periodic visual inspection and replacement according to product instructions are recommended.
-
Supplemental protection: complements proper equipment design, electrical protection, inspections and code-required fire safety systems.

Installation and Electrical Safety
Installation should be performed by qualified personnel. Before opening electrical equipment, turn off and verify it is de-energized, and follow applicable lockout/tagout and electrical safe-work procedures. Secure the full, uncut rope in a suitable upper-interior location with approved mounting hardware and appropriate spacing. Keep the rope and all supports clear of bare conductors, terminals and busbars; preserve required electrical and service clearances. Do not crush, sharply kink, cover or obstruct the rope. Avoid wet or condensing conditions and consult FireXNull for ventilated cabinets.
FXN Rope is not an electrical insulator, fault-repair product or substitute for required fire protection. Always use the instructions applicable to the selected model and enclosure.
Can Multiple FXN Rope Units Be Connected for Larger Enclosures?
Yes, for selected applications. FireXNull confirms that more than one complete FXN Rope unit may be combined when the units are connected at one end only. Keep each factory-finished rope intact. The one-end connection arrangement, approved mounting/connection hardware, electrical clearances, routing, and number of units must be reviewed with FireXNull for the specific enclosure before installation. Do not cut, splice, crush, or otherwise alter the rope bodies.
Joining units does not mean their individual enclosure-sizing references can simply be added together, nor does it guarantee whole-enclosure protection. Contact FireXNull for a larger enclosure or multi-rope application review.
Where Can FXN Rope Be Evaluated?
Use in energy-storage installations, if considered, is limited to suitable electrical and control enclosures within a broader safety design. FXN Rope is not claimed to stop battery thermal runaway or propagation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does FXN Rope require wiring, batteries, or sensors?
No. FXN Rope is a passive, heat-activated product. It does not need electrical power or sensing electronics for activation.
What temperature activates FXN Rope?
Its specified activation temperature is 428°F ± 9°F (220°C ± 5°C) at the rope, distinct from FXN Sticker and FXN Tape activation temperatures.
Can I cut FXN Rope to fit an enclosure?
No. Do not cut or modify a finished rope. Select an appropriate model or contact FireXNull for OEM and larger-enclosure options.
Can I use two or more ropes in one cabinet?
Multiple complete ropes may be connected at one end for selected larger enclosures. Ask FireXNull for the approved arrangement and application-specific assessment; do not improvise a connector.
Is FXN Rope UL Listed or a replacement for required suppression?
No. FXN Rope has no UL fire-suppression listing or rating. It provides supplemental, localized protection and does not replace code-required detection, suppression, or electrical safety measures.
Does FXN Rope leave residue?
FK-5-1-12 clean agent itself leaves no residue. Some rope-matrix material residue may remain after activation.
