APPLICATION / FIREXNULL
Supplemental Fire Suppression for Substation Control Cabinets
Explore passive localized suppression for compatible substation relay, control and auxiliary electrical cabinets. Not entire substations or high-voltage equipment.
FireXNull products are designed as supplemental protection, not as substitutes for code-required fire protection systems. Review technical documentation and confirm fit for the application.

APPLICATION OVERVIEW
Electrical Substations & Grid Infrastructure: Electrical Enclosures for Evaluation
Explore localized, passive suppression for compatible enclosed electrical control and auxiliary equipment used in substations and grid infrastructure. This is an equipment-level evaluation, not protection for a complete substation.
Application boundary: FireXNull products are passive, heat-activated, localized supplemental suppression products for compatible electrical equipment. They do not replace required electrical protection, detection, alarms, or fire-safety systems.
01 / EQUIPMENT CONTEXT
Focus on the Enclosed Electrical Equipment.
Substation reliability depends on protection relays, auxiliary power, monitoring and control systems housed in electrical cabinets. Their enclosed connections and components merit application-specific electrical and fire-risk review.
No industry incident statistic on this page is being used as evidence of FireXNull performance.
02 / CANDIDATE ENCLOSURES
Which Electrical Enclosures Can Be Evaluated?
FXN Sticker and Rope may be considered for suitable enclosed cabinets; FXN Tape may be evaluated for compatible enclosed terminations. Select exact models only after review. Examples below are engineering evaluation candidates, not equipment-specific certifications or validated coverage claims.
- Protection relay and metering cabinetsEnclosed relay terminals, control wiring and auxiliary electronics.
- SCADA and remote terminal unit panelsCompatible enclosed signal, monitoring and power terminals.
- Station auxiliary distribution cabinetsLow-voltage distribution and branch control connections.
- Switchgear control compartmentsOnly separately accessible compatible control and termination sections.
- Grid monitoring and communication cabinetsAuxiliary electrical equipment that supports monitoring and control.
03 / PRODUCT FORMATS
Match the FireXNull Format to the Enclosure.
Compare the three heat-activated product families. A suitable product and model must be selected using the current approved TDS, enclosure details, electrical clearances and technical review.
FXN Sticker (S Series)
Adhesive-backed format for compatible smaller electrical enclosures with suitable upper-interior mounting surfaces.
Activation: 248°F ± 9°F (120°C ± 5°C)
Explore product →FXN Rope (R Series)
Flexible rope for eligible electrical cabinets with mounting points and required clearance.
Activation: 428°F ± 9°F (220°C ± 5°C)
Explore product →FXN Tape (T Series)
Cuttable wrap for selected compatible enclosed electrical terminals and connections.
Activation: 248°F ± 9°F (120°C ± 5°C)

04 / ENGINEERING FIT
What the Technical Review Must Confirm.
- Identify operating voltage, enclosure boundaries and manufacturer-prescribed electrical clearances.
- Provide internal cabinet dimensions, heat sources and actual mounting points.
- Assess airflow, enclosure sealing, corrosion and condensation exposure.
- Preserve accessibility to relays, protective devices, switching mechanisms and labels.
- Require documented OEM/utility engineering acceptance where applicable.
The products operate without a power connection or detection wiring; they do not communicate an alarm signal. Installation should be performed only by qualified personnel on appropriately isolated and verified equipment.
05 / IMPORTANT LIMITATIONS
The Scope of This Application.
FireXNull does not claim suppression of transformer oil fires, exterior switchyard fires, high-voltage arcs, bus faults, or complete substation incidents. It is not a substitute for protective relaying, arc-flash controls, equipment standards or required fire systems.
FireXNull contains FK-5-1-12, an electrically non-conductive clean agent. The clean agent itself does not leave residue, but other product materials or a fire event may. Electrical non-conductivity of the agent does not establish universal compatibility of the finished product with energized equipment.
06 / TECHNICAL FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Does FireXNull protect power transformers or outdoor switchyard conductors?
No. This application considers suitable enclosed control, monitoring and auxiliary electrical cabinets only. Transformer and open high-voltage hazards remain outside the represented protection scope.
Does FireXNull replace installed fire protection, alarms or electrical protection?
No. FireXNull is considered only as a supplemental localized layer in suitable electrical enclosures and does not replace code-required systems or maintenance.
Can FireXNull be installed while the equipment is energized?
Do not install on energized equipment. Qualified personnel must isolate and verify a safe work condition in accordance with the equipment manufacturer's instructions and applicable procedures.
Can this be used in outdoor or mechanically ventilated cabinets?
Potentially only after technical review. Internal temperatures, active airflow, cabinet leakage, humidity and condensation can make an enclosure unsuitable. Consult the current product-specific TDS and the equipment OEM.
How do we choose among Sticker, Rope and Tape?
Select by the electrical enclosure and intended placement. Sticker requires a compatible interior mounting surface; Rope requires appropriate secure routing and clearances; Tape may be considered for eligible electrical terminations. Final selection requires model-specific documentation and evaluation.
How is the product inspected or replaced?
Follow the selected model's approved TDS for inspection and replacement requirements. These are single-use products and must be replaced after activation. Qualified personnel should inspect equipment after any fire event before returning it to service.
Does the product notify a central alarm panel?
No. FireXNull suppression activates locally with heat and does not generate an alarm, notification or connection to an existing fire panel.
This page describes prospective evaluation applications, not completed field testing, certification or guaranteed suppression performance. Site and equipment-specific suitability must be demonstrated before installation.
Request an Electrical Enclosure Engineering Review
Send the equipment manufacturer and model, enclosure dimensions, operating conditions, and images or drawings of the intended mounting area. FireXNull can discuss whether a product-format evaluation is appropriate.
